Teacher Thoughts
A few things are coming up in the next weeks to be away of. Here is the run down.
Week of Feb 25 - March 1
It is kindness week. We will be having an assembly and doing some activities to highlight the importance of kindness. There will also be Kindness Days that will be sort of like Spirit Days with different themes.
Monday - Color Day (We decided to be rainbow. Wear either lots of colors or as much of the same color as possible)
Tuesday - PJ Day (Students may want a change of clothes for recess depending on weather)
Wednesday - Hat Day
Thursday - Wacky Day
Friday - Blue and Gold Day
We will also have a test on Friday covering math unit 5. The students will have a review for homework.
Week of March 4 - March 8
Monday 4th- Friday 8th - The Spring book fair will be happening in the Media Center. Information should have come home today for online or preorder stuff.
Thurday. March 7 - Our classes will be attending the Wild Swan Theater’s performance of “Shipwrecked!” at the Towsley Auditorium atWashtenaw Community College. We will be leaving South Meadows at 9:00 a.m. and returning before 2:00 p.m. Please, make sure your child is here promptly sowe can prepare for our day and leave on time. Please send a sack lunch with your child to school with disposable containers. (No glass please). The cost is $7.50 and there are no parent chaperones on this trip.
Friday March 8 - This is half day with students releasing at 11:11 am. It is records do for teachers to work on report cards.

What's Going On In Class
In math, we are finishing up Unit 5 which covered adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers, symmetry, and angles.
In writing, we are finishing writing literary essays, and will be moving into writing as historians by studying the revolutionary war.
In science, they are working on a unit of physics and energy.
In reading we are working on reading nonfiction history, with a focus on note taking, summarizing, and perspective.

Who is Mr. Miller?
Mr. Miller has been teaching for 8 years in Indiana, Michigan, and even Costa Rica. He grew up in Colorado and has always loved finding ways to be creative and active in the classroom and out. Besides teaching, he loves playing guitar and singing, playing and coaching soccer, woodworking, gardening, hiking, kayaking, and much more. He is so happy and grateful to be teaching at South Meadows.
